PRESS RELEASE

The second part of the 14th session of fourteenth Lok Sabha and 214th session of Rajya Sabha is scheduled to commence on Friday, the 17th of October, 2008 and subject to exigencies of Government Business, the session will conclude on Friday, the 21st of November, 2008.  The Session will provide a total of 24 sittings spread over a period of 36 days. 

 

2.      The session will mainly be devoted to essential Government legislative and other business, including financial business relating to Supplementary Demands for Grants for the year 2008-09 in respect of Railways and General Budgets.

 

The Minister of Parliamentary Affairs held a meeting on Tuesday, the 14th of October, 2008 with the Secretaries/Senior Officers of the various Ministries/Departments to finalise the Government Legislative and other Business for the ensuing session.  During the meeting, 71 legislative, 2 Financial and 1 Non-legislative items were identified for being taken up during the ensuing session.  The list of Government Business identified for being taken up in the ensuing session is at Annex.
